Social Services Sigtuna

Sigtuna Municipality

Relative of a person with substance abuse, addiction, or harmful use

It can be difficult to live with someone who is dependent on various substances or gambling for money. As a relative or someone close, you can also receive support from us.

Are you close to someone who has problems with addiction? We offer both individual support and conversation groups on various themes. A relative or someone close means, for example, a partner, child, parent, sibling, cohabiting partner or non-cohabiting partner, close friend, or coworker. Together we can be a support for those who have developed an addiction to, for example, alcohol, narcotics, or pills. It can also involve gambling for money.

Supportive conversations and relatives' group

You can have individual conversations with our therapists or take part in our relatives' group.

Relatives' group

The group meets on five occasions, from 15:00 to 17:00, at Sigtuna Municipality's outpatient care on Södergatan 19a in Märsta. There you have the opportunity to meet others in the same situation and exchange experiences. You receive advice and support from the group's two leaders, as well as concrete tools for how to respond to your loved one and guidance on how to start putting yourself in focus. We discuss, among other things, addiction illnesses, codependency, communication, and boundaries. The meetings take place in a small, closed group. Contact Open Care Direct for more information and to register.

Apply for support or file a concern report

Through the municipality's e-service, you can apply for support for yourself if you are over 18. You can also file a concern report for an adult you are worried about, when it comes to substance abuse or addiction.
